Upskills primary school teachers, higher level teaching assistants and teaching assistants with extensive experience to improve the overall delivery of the PE curriculum within their school. Those taking the qualification will learn how to understand curriculum requirements, the links between pedagogy principles and child development, and how using a range of activities can impact on better teaching and learning.
Level 5: Primary School Teachers, HLTAs, TAs and Sports Coaches (with a minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering PE across both KS1 and KS2)
Builds on the Level 5 Certificate to enable primary teachers to take subject leadership within their school’s PE teaching. Course attendees will be taught how to determine the quality of provision and design, lead implementation of, review and revise a targeted strategy to develop primary school physical education and its sustainability.
The Level 5 Certificate is delivered over six tutored days across the academic year. Those also wishing to attain the Level 6 Award need to attend a further two days.
